This is a sketch in oil I did the other night at a painting and drawing group I had in my studio. When I am just playing around I like to make oil sketches on canvas torn from a canvas pad, not on a panel. I tape the loose canvas on some plastic, paint it with a colored gesso (normally black) and sketch away. This was a still life apple I had set up for the group, it's about 5x7. When this drys I can and have in the past framed these small sketches under glass.
